The Rolling Legacy.
of the Picasso Family
A PASSION THAT
CROSSES GENERATIONS
AND MOUNTAIN RANGES.
A story marked by courage, adventure, and movement was born in 1901.
In 1919, Don Benjamín and his brother Máximo Ulloa Valenzuela achieved an unprecedented feat: crossing the Andes from Santiago to Buenos Aires on an American Indian motorcycle. They traveled 1,400 kilometers through mountains, dust, and wind, becoming the first to accomplish such a journey in the Americas. That moment became the starting point of a family obsession with transportation — with journeys, with connecting people and places.

1968
Founded Interurbano
That same pioneering blood runs through the veins of the Picasso family, who turned this legacy of mobility into a lifelong mission. In 1968, Don Ítalo Picasso founded Interurbano IGI LLAIMA, one of the first companies to operate cross-border passenger transport between Chile and Argentina. From those early days, the family never stopped moving.
Throughout the decades, the Picasso Group has been a key player in bringing transportation innovation to Latin America. It has represented major Chinese automotive brands such as Dong Feng and Yuejin, expanding their operations into Peru and beyond. With deep ties to China, the group established its own permanent offices in Beijing in 2005, giving it privileged access to manufacturers, regulators, and innovation hubs.
Today
Today, under the umbrella of GlobalMotors, the Picasso Group leverages this unique position to act as a strategic bridge between China and Latin America. With unparalleled knowledge of both regions, the group designs and executes transport and infrastructure projects that are locally grounded and globally connected. For us, transportation is not just logistics — it’s culture, connection, and purpose.
Where others see a vehicle, the Picasso family sees a story in motion — one that began in Chile, partnered with China, and now moves all of Latin America.
Bridging Continent:
Picasso Group with Dong Feng and
Yuejin Motor in Latin America.
In 2006, Picasso Group: became the official distributor for two major Chinese automotive companies, Dong Feng and Yuejin Motor, in Latin America.
This milestone marked a pivotal step in bridging the gap between the Asian and Latin American markets, facilitating the entry of Chinese automotive technology and products into a rapidly growing region. The partnership involved introducing a diverse range of vehicles that catered to the specific needs of Latin American consumers, including robust trucks, reliable utility vehicles, and affordable passenger cars. This collaboration required overcoming logistical, cultural, and regulatory challenges, showcasing GRUPO PICASSO’s ability to navigate complex international trade dynamics
Beyond merely distributing vehicles, Picasso Group: played a key role in fostering brand awareness and trust for these Chinese manufacturers in an era when the region was still relatively unfamiliar with the quality and capabilities of Chinese automobiles. This strategic initiative not only strengthened the presence of Dong Feng and Yuejin in the Western Hemisphere but also underscored Picasso Group commitment to innovation and market expansion.
